We heard so many birds yesterday on our hike!
PADD Gets a Big Upgrade
I've been busy! There's a big batch of improvements landing in PADD today. It touches pretty much every part of the app so I'm writing this post to walk y'all through it. First though, I want to give a disclaimer: I'm building this stuff primarily for myself (not you, sorry). I want a good way to quickly post to my own site and read the blogs I care about. PADD is my attempt at that. If it turns out to be useful to other people, that's great. If not? Well, then at least I have a reader I like...

Things coming to #PADD (my #IndieWeb reader) soon: Photo editing Harvest to Gardn button Better input for tags on post editor Control over syndication targets via micropub Import/Export OPML files to and from your Microsub server A "Discover" page so you can see what other users are interacting with (not their interactions, just counts) to help you find more blogs to follow. I can't wait for this to be done cooking!

I'm adding a photo editor featue right into PADD. This will make quick photo posts to your blog not only possible but easy. Why did people leave blogs for silos? Because blogs weren't fun or easy to use!

February is a big month for me! Valentines, my late mom's birthday, and then my own. My last two hikes have been to mark occasions. Fitting that this one have some incredible views for us.
Starting out the hike through volcanic basalt led me to think we wouldn't be seeing anything in bloom quite yet. I was mistaken. Shortly after starting we were greeted with some Apricot Mallow in bloom. Not long after that we also saw some Scarlet Paintbrush as well!
The climb up to Scout Cave itself was tough but so worth it. We spent a solid few minutes enjoying the shade and the views from inside the cave itself. It's a popular enough hike and we had seen a handful of other hikers so I didn't expect to have the cave to ourselves. We enjoyed it though!
After leaving the caving and starting our decent Azure suggested we detour on our way back to the car and hit Johnson Canyon. It's seasonally closed to protect wildlife habitat, so we can't always hike it. We had already done most of the climbing there was to do so I agreed and I'm glad I did.
Hiking back into Johnson canyon was an amazing opportunity to hear a number of bird calls. I loved seeing the moon over Johnson arch. I especially enjoyed the incredibly green and lush landscape that water can transform a desert into.
10/10, would hike again!
If you’re using something I built and its not working PLEASE tell me. I love making tools people find useful. And I'm always open to polite suggestions on how it might be better.

Birthday hike post incomming!
Since today is my birthday I thought I'd treat myself to a fun theme for today. I'll be switching back tomorrow so enjoy it today!
Happy Birthday to Me (and Twin Peaks day)
Diane, 11:30am, February 24th. I'm entering the town of Twin Peaks. Today is Twin Peaks day. The show originally aired in 1990, but is meant to have taken place in 1989. February 24th 1989 is the day Special Agent Dale Cooper arrives in Twin Peaks. In real life, February 24th 1989 is the day I was born. Today is my birthday! Weird cooincidence? Or does it explain a lot? These are the questions I'll be pondering today, along with many others. How did I get to be 37 years old? There's anothe...
